Eco News Network presents our favorite eco-celeb of the week. We love seeing what celebrities are up to, and that doesn’t mean when it comes to movies, television or music albums, but with how they’re giving back to the planet. This week, hit singer Pink caught our eye for not only her talent, but also her dedicated eco-efforts. Check out how she protects Mother Earth.
Pink is so much more than a pretty face. Of course, we all know and love her for being an amazing singer and artist, but what about her eco-friendly accomplishments? They rank pretty high up there.
As a vegan and animal activist, Pink loves and respects the planet. Where do we begin? Let’s start with her diet.
It’s no secret that she has a rocking body. Have you seen her abs? Her body didn’t come easy, especially after having her daughter, Willow.
In the November 2012 issue of Shape magazine, Pink divulged how she dropped over 55 pounds. To get back in shape, she ate mostly vegan and focused on cardio and yoga six days a week. Talk about hardcore!
Pink said, “I like results. I like feeling strong. It keeps my mental floor higher. Even if it’s a pain in the *ss and you hate working out, the endorphins help.”
Even her trainer, Gregory Joujon-Roche, helped Pink maintain a healthy, green diet. He told Shape, “Her diet would be quinoa, fresh veggies, superfood shakes, super shots, and wellness shots. We always incorporated things that are really healthy but also user friendly.
“Everything you put in your mouth should be green, except water. There are so many healthy green foods, like green salad, avocado, apples, and juice. Do it once a month. You’ll feel really good for doing it and your body will love you for it. It’ll save your life.”
Pink also makes sure her daughter and husband, Carey Hart, eat healthy. For Willow’s first birthday, Pink purchased a vegan carrot cake. It looked delicious and was extremely cute!
In addition to teaching to her family how to eat well, Pink also shows them, and others, how to help animals.
As an avid supporter of PETA, Pink has spoken out against sheep cruelty and Australia’s wool industry. Watch the following video, and see Pink in action.
She’s also backed the animal rights group in its stance against horse-drawn carriages, “Every time I see a horse-drawn carriage in a concrete jungle, I point and yell ‘animal cruelty’ at the top of my lungs to try to make the driver and occupants as uncomfortable as possible.
“It honestly hurts my heart when I think of what those horses must be feeling, as far as anxiety and fear, and how unnatural and wrong it is for these animals to have blinders on, trotting up and down on concrete, while taxis blare and people scream. It’s absolutely unnatural and ignorant of us to continue this outdated tradition. What about this is romantic?”
Pink is truly a role model for those looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle and those looking to protect animals everywhere.
