Eco News Network presents our favorite eco-celeb of the week. We love seeing what celebrities are up to, and that doesn’t mean when it comes to movies, television or music albums, but with how they’re giving back to the planet. This week, singer and animal activist Leona Lewis caught our eye. In addition to her songs, she has great love for animals and the planet, Check out how she protects Mother Earth.
Leona Lewis may be a Grammy nominee and a critically acclaimed singer, but these aren’t the only reasons fans adore her. It just might have something to with the massive amount of respect she has for the planet and its creatures.
Here are just a few of the ways she respects the environment.
1. For one of her most recent business ventures, Leona partnered with The Body Shop and launched her very own Limited Edition Cruelty Free Beauty product line. Each item is 100 percent animal-friendly. With these products, Leona hopes to inspire others to respect animals in their everyday lives and to stop the testing of cosmetics on animals.
2. Also, Leona is not afraid to let profanity fly to get her point across to others. For example, during the 2013 Grand National horse race, Leona tweeted, “F*** the grand national. How about we put down the little tw**s that running those poor horses into the ground. can’t stand this bullshit.” She speaks her mind and doesn’t care what others think about her love of animals.
3. Adding to her long list of animal activism, Leona obviously doesn’t believe in harming animals. As she told Time Out London, “A part of me feels like I was an animal in my past life that wasn’t treated very nicely. And I do believe that every creature has a soul and has feelings.” She continued, “Fear and pain and suffering is not okay for any being to feel intentionally at the hands of us.” Her compassion seems endless.
It looks like she’ll continue to sing a tune in support of animals and against animal haters.
